Back Across the Atlantic

packing for paris and london

It’s taken much longer than anticipated for me to return to Europe, but after five years away I’m about to head back. I’ll be staying in Paris for about a week, and will have a quick jaunt over to London as well. And while I always strive to only bring a carryon, this time around I had an additional incentive to pack light – both the Euro and the Pound are getting, well, pounded right now. In other words, some world-class shops in Europe and the UK are on deep discount for Americans so I want to make sure that I have some room in my suitcase for menswear-y souvenirs. I’ll be gone for ten days and expect to do laundry once or twice while there, which is a huge help in keeping things light. Here’s what I packed:

All of this can easily be swapped around and worn together – any of the shirts with any of the pants, sportcoat and/or overcoat layered on top, and so forth. The weather will likely be cool and mild, so there’s not much need for heavy clothing (the overcoat is likely overkill, but I just like how it looks and will take any opportunity I get to wear it. Another good option would be a nice suede jacket like this). If you have any must-visit destinations in either city, let me know in the comments below!
